THE LITE INSTITUTE

ESTABLISHED SPRING 2021

In partnership with Main Street Athens, The LITE House introduced a new entrepreneur program to McMinn County high school sophomores and juniors. The LITE Institute is focused on entrepreneurship and community development and gives students the opportunity to learn about their community, pitch a business idea, and hopefully encourage them to attend Tennessee Wesleyan University.

This program is sponsored by the C. Scott and Muriel Mayfield Family Foundation.

2021 Pilot Program

The 2021 pilot program offered 3 in-person sessions (Feb 26, March 26, and April 9) and seven students (4 Central, 3 McMinn) submitted applications to participate. TWU is offering a $500 scholarship to students who decide to continue their education at the university. This program is in conjunction with the TWU Goodfriend School of Business.
